Film on late politician Koleosho to premiere Sept 2 — starring Femi Branch

‘Babalaje’, a biopic of the late Oyo politician Michael Koleosho, is set to premiere on September 2.
The film explores Koleosho’s journey from Saki to political prominence in Oyo state. It also highlights his influential role over four decades until his death in September 2024.
Speaking about the project, Seun Oloketuyi, the film’s producer, said the biopic aims to educate young people about the late politician and inspire them through his lifestyle.
He also revealed that the film premiere holds special significance as it coincides with the late politician’s one-year remembrance, adding that events have also been scheduled in Abuja and Ibadan to mark the occasion.
The actors featured in the biopic include Femi Branch, Joke Muyiwa, Biola Adebayo, Ayo Mogaji, Yemi Sodimu, and Bolaji ‘Mr. Latin’ Amusan.
Koleosho, who died on September 2, 2024, at the age of 86, was popularly known as the Babalaje of Saki.
After completing his education, he joined the civil service of the western region and served as the head of the health department of the old Saki District Council.
Following years in public service, he went on to establish his first company, Esmak Nigeria Limited, which focuses on commodity distribution, transportation, real estate, and hospitality.
Koleosho was also known for his many roles in Oyo state politics. In 1976, he was elected unopposed as a councilor in the Ifedapo Local Government Area of the old Oyo State.
In 1979, he was elected into the Oyo state house of assembly as the representative of the Ifedapo constituency under the Obafemi Awolowo-led Unity Party of Nigeria.
He later served as secretary to the state government (SSG) during the administration of the late Lamidi Adesina between 1999 and 2003.
