The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the list of candidates for the forthcoming House of Representatives election in the Saki West/Saki East/ATISBO Federal Constituency, with the name of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) aspirant, Bashir Aremu Lawal, absent from the published document.
The list shows Hon. Kareem Tajudeen Abisodun as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Niyi Adebisi representing the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Hon. Adegbola David Oluwadamilare of the Labour Party (LP), and Hon. Oyelakin Adejumobi Idowu of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
The omission of Bashir Aremu Lawal’s name has sparked reactions among political stakeholders in the constituency, as he had been widely identified as the expected ADC candidate.
When contacted by this newspaper, Lawal expressed confidence that the issue would be resolved, stating that his name would be published by INEC in due course.
“My name will be published in due course,” he said, without providing further details on the reason for its absence from the current list.
As of the time of filing this report, INEC had not issued any official explanation regarding the omission, while the ADC was yet to release a formal statement on the development.
