Otunba Adeolu Masolanu has formally joined the race for the House of Representatives seat representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, declaring his ambition under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Masolanu, who hails from Ward 4 in Ibarapa East Local Government Area of Oyo State, is entering the race with a message centered on renewal, development, and expanded representation for his constituency. Political observers say his emergence adds a notable dimension to what is expected to be a keenly contested election.
The aspirant previously contested the 2021 local government elections on the platform of the Labour Party, where he faced a candidate backed by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde. The election drew public attention amid reports of irregularities and disruptions, with the final outcome favoring the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Despite the controversy surrounding that contest, Masolanu has remained active in grassroots engagement across Ibarapa East. Through his Masolanu Foundation, he has supported a range of community development initiatives, including empowerment programs and local interventions aimed at improving livelihoods.
Supporters describe him as a philanthropist with strong ties to the community, while analysts suggest his prior political experience and local visibility could play a role in shaping his chances at the polls.
As the race gradually takes shape, stakeholders across Ibarapa East and Ido are expected to watch closely, Masolanu is seeking to succeed the current occupant of the seat, Remi Oseni, as political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of the next electoral cycle.
