The Oyo North senatorial candidate, Mrs Hannah Olawumi Ogunesan, has welcomed the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to Oyo State, describing her as a compassionate leader whose commitment to women, children and vulnerable Nigerians continues to inspire hope.
Ogunesan stated this while receiving the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, who represented the First Lady at the inauguration of the Tinubu Torch Bearers (TTB), Oyo State chapter.
She commended Senator Tinubu for what she described as her sustained efforts towards improving the welfare of women and children and advancing human capital development across the country.
According to her, the First Lady’s approach to public service is anchored on compassion, courage and concern for Nigerian families.
“Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, represents the strength and tenderness of motherhood in leadership. She carries the concerns of Nigerian families in her heart, and her compassion for women and children is evident in the initiatives and causes she continues to champion.
“We are proud to welcome a woman whose service is driven not merely by position, but by purpose.”
Ogunesan said empowering women and protecting children remained critical to building a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.
She added that the First Lady had consistently used her platform to promote initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable Nigerians and giving women a stronger voice in national development.
Oyo APC Women Ready for 2027 — Ogunesan
Speaking on the political atmosphere in the state, Ogunesan said APC women in Oyo remained mobilised, organised and committed to the party’s ideals.
She said the large turnout of women to welcome the First Lady demonstrated their enthusiasm and readiness to participate actively in the party’s programmes and campaigns.
“The women of Oyo State are ready. We are organised, energised and determined. We will continue to mobilise our mothers, sisters and daughters across the state because we understand the importance of participation in building the Nigeria we desire,” she said.
Ogunesan urged APC supporters to remain peaceful, united and committed to democratic values, adding that the party’s women would continue to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates at the appropriate elections.
She also commended the Oyo State APC leadership and the party’s women leaders for strengthening grassroots mobilisation and mobilising women across the state.
According to her, the gathering was not merely a political event but a demonstration of the strength, unity and political consciousness of Oyo women.
“Today, Oyo women have once again shown that we are not spectators in the political process. We are stakeholders, mobilisers and torch bearers. We will continue to stand together for good governance, development and a prosperous future for our families and our nation,” she said.
Ogunesan thanked the First Lady for her visit to Oyo State and expressed confidence that the state’s women would continue to support initiatives aimed at promoting national development.
