A chieftain of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oyo State, Alhaji Adebisi Aremu Olopoeyan, has declared that there is only one authentic APM in the state, describing any other group claiming to represent the party as a “counterfeit.”
Olopoeyan also alleged that another group operating under the name of an alliance party exists in the state, while declaring that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under the leadership of Hassim Gbolarunmi politically relevant in Oyo state.
He made the remarks on Monday while addressing supporters and members of the APM in Ibadan.
The gathering was attended by local government and ward chairmen of the party from across the state, as well as other party leaders and supporters.
Olopoeyan urged party members to exercise caution in their activities, particularly in view of the ongoing legal dispute over the congress that produced the current executive structure of the party in the state.
He said the matter remained before the court and advised members to avoid actions that could amount to contempt of court.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for the announcement of the names of APM executive members at the local government and ward levels across Oyo State.
Olopoeyan called on members and supporters to remain united and committed to the party as it prepares for future political activities in the state.I can also make it more punchy and politically sharper, while retaining a neutral newspaper tone.
