The Okere of Sakiland, HRM, Oba (Dr.) Surv. Khalid Oyeniyi Olabisi Oyedepo III, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and the nation’s security agencies for the successful rescue of pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
In a statement made available on Saturday, the monarch praised the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, and other security and intelligence agencies for what he described as exemplary coordination, professionalism, and unwavering commitment that led to the victims’ rescue after several weeks in captivity.
He said the operation highlighted the importance of sustained intelligence-driven collaboration in tackling insecurity and protecting the lives of Nigerians.
“The successful rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers is a welcome development that brings relief to their families and all well-meaning Nigerians. I commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Seyi Makinde, our gallant security agencies, and everyone whose dedication made this feat possible. The rescue of the victims, the arrest of eight suspected kidnappers, and the neutralisation of members of the criminal gang demonstrate the effectiveness of intelligence-led operations and strong inter-agency collaboration in the fight against insecurity,” he said.
The royal father also expressed sympathy to the rescued pupils, teachers, and their families over the traumatic experience they endured in captivity. He prayed for their speedy physical recovery, emotional healing, and the strength to overcome the psychological effects of the ordeal.
He urged the relevant authorities to sustain ongoing operations against criminal elements across Oyo State and the country, stressing that the fight against insecurity must remain relentless. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting legitimate initiatives aimed at strengthening security, protecting lives and property, and fostering a peaceful environment for sustainable social and economic development.
The monarch further pledged continued collaboration with government and security agencies to promote the safety, security, and well-being of residents within his domain.
