Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Kareem Abisodun, on Tuesday played a prominent role during plenary at the Green Chamber, presenting two significant reports on behalf of the House Committee on Aviation Technology aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s aviation industry and advancing aerospace education.
The lawmaker first presented the committee’s report on a Bill for an Act to amend the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) Act No. 29 of 2022 and related matters (HB. 2109). While laying the report before the House, Hon. Abisodun urged members to consider and approve the committee’s recommendations, noting the importance of enhancing the legal framework guiding meteorological services in the country.
He subsequently presented the committee’s report on a Bill for an Act to establish the African Aviation and Aerospace University, Abuja (HB. 745). The proposed legislation seeks to provide a comprehensive legal framework for the administration of the institution, including provisions relating to the discipline and welfare of students, as well as other related matters. The lawmaker appealed to the House to endorse the committee’s recommendations on the bill.
The two reports are considered strategic to the ongoing efforts to modernise Nigeria’s aviation sector and align it with global best practices. Industry stakeholders have consistently highlighted the need for stronger meteorological services and specialised aviation training institutions to support the growth and safety of the sector.
Hon. Abisodun’s presentations show his active involvement in legislative initiatives targeted at improving aviation infrastructure, strengthening weather forecasting capabilities, and promoting excellence in aviation and aerospace education.
