Oyo State Police Command Arrests Suspects, Recovers Weapons,497 Bags of FG Maize

The Oyo State Police Command has recorded major successes in its ongoing fight against crime, arresting several suspected kidnappers, armed robbers, ritualists, and vehicle thieves, while also recovering 497 bags of maize belonging to a Federal Government intervention programme.

The Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Olugbenga, disclosed the development during his maiden press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Eleyele Ibadan. He highlighted a series of coordinated operations carried out by the Command Monitoring Unit alongside other tactical teams across the state.

According to Olugbenga, the operations also led to the recovery of vehicles, a motorbike, a pumping action rifle, and other items believed to have been used in criminal activities. He described the achievements as a testament to the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing and strengthened collaboration with the public.

“The Command remains resolute in its mandate to protect lives and property. These breakthroughs demonstrate our commitment to ensuring that criminal elements have no safe haven in Oyo State,” he said.

The police boss further commended residents for their cooperation, stressing that timely and credible information from the public played a critical role in the success of the operations.

“These achievements would not have been possible without the support of members of the public,” Olugbenga added, urging continued vigilance and partnership with security agencies.

The Command reaffirmed its determination to sustain the momentum in its crackdown on crime, assuring residents that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects and dismantle criminal networks operating within the state.
