Residents of Irawo Owode in ATISBO LGA of Oyo State have been thrown into panic following the abduction of a prominent businessman, Alhaji Wasiu Alesinloye Banke, by suspected kidnappers.
According to sources within the community, the incident occurred late Monday night shortly after the victim returned to his residence at about 10 p.m.
A community source disclosed that armed men invaded the businessman’s home moments after his arrival and forcefully whisked him away to an unknown destination.
The attackers were said to have fired several gunshots during the operation, creating tension and fear among residents of the area.
“No one else was injured during the attack, but the victim was taken away by the gunmen. As of now, the whereabouts of both the kidnappers and the victim remain unknown,” the source said.
The incident has reportedly heightened anxiety within the community, with residents expressing concerns over rising insecurity in the area.
Meanwhile, local hunters, vigilante groups, and operatives of the Amotekun Corps have commenced a coordinated search operation aimed at rescuing the victim and apprehending the abductors.
