The South-West Zonal Executive Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed its commitment to the party’s core ideals, declaring that it remains resolute despite what it described as persistent efforts to weaken its influence across the country.
This position was made known in Ibadan by the party’s South-West Zonal Publicity Secretary, Sanya Atofarati, who spoke on behalf of the zonal leadership. He stressed that the PDP would continue to stand firm as a credible alternative for Nigerians, anchored on people-focused governance, stability, and national progress.
Atofarati noted that although the party has faced challenges, it remains unwavering in its determination to deliver democratic dividends to citizens. He expressed confidence that the PDP is well-positioned to regain political strength, particularly in the South-West region.
Looking ahead to upcoming elections, the spokesperson said the party is optimistic about its chances in the governorship polls in Osun State and Ekiti State. According to him, the PDP is committed to presenting credible candidates capable of securing victory at the polls, despite what he described as prevailing political odds.
He further emphasized that the party’s strategy would focus on reconnecting with the electorate and offering practical solutions to governance challenges facing the states and the country at large.
Speaking on behalf of the zonal leadership, Atofarati also stated that the PDP stands in solidarity with Nigerians amid current economic hardship and security concerns. He assured that the party remains sensitive to the plight of citizens and is committed to policies that will improve living conditions and restore public confidence in governance.
The PDP South-West leadership reiterated its belief that sustained engagement with the people and adherence to democratic principles would strengthen the party’s position as a viable platform for national development.
