The Saki Parapo Association, in collaboration with the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (PI-CNG) and Bovas Limited CNG, has sensitised motorists in Saki, Oyo State, to the benefits, safety and economic advantages of adopting compressed natural gas as an alternative fuel.

The sensitisation programme, held at the Saki City Hall on Wednesday, November 5, 2026, was organised to promote the adoption of cleaner, affordable and environmentally friendly energy in Saki and the wider Oke-Ogun area.

The event attracted motorists, commercial drivers, tricycle operators, truck owners, members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Park Management System (PMS), Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) and other stakeholders in the transport sector.

Participants were educated on the economic, environmental and safety benefits of CNG, including its cost-effectiveness, proper usage, vehicle conversion and maintenance requirements.

Speaking on the initiative, the Chairman of the Saki Parapo Association, Mr Wole Oladokun, said the programme was part of the association’s commitment to bringing development opportunities and modern innovations closer to the people of Saki and Oke-Ogun.

He said: “We believe that Saki and the entire Oke-Ogun region must not be left behind in the national transition to cleaner energy. Our people deserve access to information and opportunities that can improve their economic well-being and quality of life.

“Compressed natural gas offers motorists an opportunity to reduce their fuel expenses while contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment.”

Oladokun added that the adoption of CNG would enhance efficiency in the transport sector, reduce operating costs for commercial motorists and create opportunities for sustainable economic growth.

He further noted that the environmental benefits of CNG should not be overlooked, particularly in the collective effort to reduce harmful emissions and promote climate resilience.

Also speaking, the Secretary of the association, Dr Ismail Adewoyin, said the sensitisation programme was designed to provide motorists with the necessary information to make informed decisions about alternative fuel options.

He said: “Our objective is not merely to introduce CNG to motorists but to ensure that they understand its benefits, safety requirements and maintenance procedures before making the transition.

“Proper awareness is essential to building public confidence and ensuring that the adoption of this technology is safe, effective and beneficial to our people.”

The programme also provided an interactive platform for participants to ask questions, express concerns and receive practical guidance from experts on CNG conversion, safety precautions and vehicle maintenance.

The association maintained that embracing CNG would not only provide motorists with a more affordable fuel option but also contribute to improved air quality, environmental protection and sustainable development across the region.

Oladokun and Adewoyin expressed appreciation to PI-CNG, Bovas Limited CNG, transport unions, motorists and other stakeholders for their cooperation and participation.

They reaffirmed the association’s commitment to supporting initiatives capable of stimulating development, creating awareness and improving the living standards of residents of Saki and Oke-Ogun.
