The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Saki West LG has rescheduled the selection of its chairmanship candidate to 8:00 a.m. on Sunday at the LG Secretariat, contrary to an earlier report by this newspaper that the exercise would be concluded on Saturday.
The adjustment follows ongoing consultations among party leaders tasked with producing a consensus candidate ahead of the forthcoming local government election.
The decision comes in line with the directive of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who mandated party stakeholders to return to their respective local governments and agree on consensus candidates.
The leading aspirants in the race are Hon. Gbenga Akinola, Hassan Ajibade (Esq.), Lateef Sarafadeen Abiola (Esq.), Hon. Oluwakemi Waheed, Hon. Muda Busari and Hon. Waheed Omoyemi.
The panel overseeing the selection comprises Engr. Hammed Gbadamosi, Alhaji Lati Komi, Baba Alaraje, Alhaji Rafiu Adekunle, Hon. Niyi Adebisi, Hon. Femi Julius, Alhaji Adeshina Moshood and Idris Aloma.
The committee is expected to meet at the LG Secretariat by 8:00 a.m. on Sunday to conclude the consensus process and recommend the party’s chairmanship candidate for the Saki West Local Government election.
