The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Oyo State, has mourned the death of a prominent political leader and community elder, Alhaji Raheem Durojaye, who died at the age of 84.
The candidates, in a condolence statement signed by the SDP Saki West secretary and House of Representatives candidate, Comrade Adejumobi Idowu Oyelakin; the party’s Oyo North senatorial candidate, Hon. Alhaji Adebayo Saheed (SP); and the party chairman, Mr Titilope Alabi, described Durojaye’s death as a great loss to Saki, Oke-Ogun and Oyo State.
Late Durojaye, a political heavyweight from the Ogidigbo area of Saki and head of the Ajibise family, was described as a respected elder whose influence extended beyond partisan politics.
The SDP candidates said the deceased was renowned for his wisdom, political experience and commitment to the unity and development of his community.
The statement said his death had created a significant vacuum in the political and community life of Saki, particularly at a time when the experience and guidance of respected elders remained crucial to promoting unity and peaceful coexistence.
The SDP leaders urged family members, political associates and residents to sustain the values of wisdom, integrity, selflessness and community service associated with the late political leader.
They commiserated with the Ajibise family, the Ogidigbo community, political associates, friends and the people of Saki, Oke-Ogun and Oyo State over the loss.
They prayed to Almighty God to grant Durojaye eternal rest and give his family the fortitude to bear the loss.
