Senator Alli Denies Link to Adelabu Family Kidnap, Calls Allegations False

Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, representing Oyo South Senatorial District, has strongly denied allegations linking him to the recent abduction of the sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, describing the claims as false, malicious and politically motivated.

In a statement issued on behalf of the senator by his Media Office, Alli dismissed reports circulating on social media that sought to connect him to the kidnapping of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her twin sons, insisting that he has no involvement whatsoever in the incident.

The statement described the publication as “irresponsible, defamatory and completely devoid of credibility,” alleging that it was orchestrated by political opponents intent on damaging the senator’s reputation.

According to the Media Office, Senator Alli, a serving lawmaker, legal practitioner and Ibadan High Chief, has built a reputation over decades of public service and remains committed to peace, security and the rule of law.

“It is absurd and illogical for anyone to attempt to drag his hard-earned reputation into criminal allegations founded merely on unverified claims allegedly made by a suspect under investigation,” the statement said.

The senator’s office further clarified that he has no connection with the criminal incident, the individuals involved, or any activity related to kidnapping and violence.

The statement also rejected attempts to associate campaign materials allegedly recovered from suspects with criminal conduct, arguing that such claims exposed a deliberate effort to tarnish the image of a prominent political figure in Oyo State.

The Media Office noted that the report in question reportedly acknowledged that no security agency had established any link between Senator Alli and the alleged crime.

“It is disturbing that faceless propagandists would deliberately weaponise unconfirmed claims to mislead the public and heat up the polity,” the statement added.

Senator Alli reiterated his condemnation of kidnapping and all forms of criminality, emphasizing his consistent support for measures aimed at strengthening security and protecting lives and property across Oyo State and the country.

The senator urged members of the public to disregard the publication and refrain from spreading information capable of undermining ongoing security investigations or creating unnecessary political tension.

He also called on security agencies to investigate the source of the allegations and ensure that those responsible for disseminating false information are held accountable.

The statement concluded by affirming that Senator Alli remains focused on his legislative responsibilities and his commitment to promoting the development, security and unity of Oyo State.
