SOWENON APPOINTS NEW DG, LAUNCHES WEBSITE

In a strategic move for repositioning and effectiveness, the leadership of the South, West, East, North of Nigeria Coordinated Initiative (SOWENON), led by its chairman, Dr. Sam Jenfa, has announced the appointment of leadership development expert and ICT consultant, Adesola Yaqub, as her new Director General (DG). The Non-governmental organization who prioritizes human capital development and national unity as its core mandate made this announcement in Abuja on Saturday, 8th August, 2026 through its national vice chairman, Elder Yemi Shobajo and made it available to our correspondents.

The organization has said that the appointment is one of its numerous moves for strategic respositioning and improved commitment to its mission and objectives. SOWENON who is also a support group and a notable strategic partner in the second term bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT) has also launched its website and strengthened its national zonal coordinating structures for a robust grassroots mobilization across the six geopolitical zones of the country, ahead of the 2027 general elections in Nigeria.

Yaqub comes in with more than two decades of experience as a professional , a grassroots mobilizer, a former local government chairman and an aide to former deputy governor of Oyo state.

He was a member of the APC 2023 Presidential Campaign Council and the DG of the APC 2024 Local Governments Election Campaign Council in Oorelope Local Govt of Oyo State. Before then, he contested Oyo Assembly seat on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in 2019.

Yaqub holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and he is a graduate of the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development.

He is also an alumnus of the prestigious School of Politics, Policy and Governance (SPPG). Yaqub is to drive the organization for strategic reforms and transformative impact.
