The Okere of Sakiland, Oba Khalid Oyeniyi Olabisi Oyedepo III, has urged residents of Saki and adjoining communities to remain vigilant and calm following a nationwide security alert over possible terrorist attacks.
The monarch, in a statement issued by the Palace Media on Wednesday, said residents should not panic, stressing that there was no immediate cause for alarm.
His appeal followed a security alert to police formations nationwide over intelligence indicating possible attacks on schools, places of worship, NYSC orientation camps and other vulnerable locations.
He urged traditional and religious leaders, community stakeholders, parents, school authorities and residents to act as watchdogs within their communities.
He also cautioned residents against spreading unverified information capable of creating unnecessary fear, urging them instead to cooperate with security agencies.
“There is no cause for alarm, but we must not take security for granted. All stakeholders are urged to remain vigilant, act as watchdogs and report any suspicious activity, person, vehicle or movement to the relevant authorities.
“Security is a collective responsibility. Timely information and cooperation can help prevent threats,” he said.
The Royal father urged residents to continue their legitimate activities peacefully while remaining alert and security-conscious.
