A Lagos-based businessman and transportation expert, Chief Fola Tinubu, on Tuesday led members of the PBT2027 Re-Election Support Group on a grassroots mobilisation rally in Saki, Oyo State, to canvass support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
The rally, which covered Ajegunle, Sango, Igboro, the palace of the Okere of Sakiland and the Poly Road axis, was part of efforts by the group to sensitise residents, traders and community members to the policies, programmes and achievements of the Tinubu administration ahead of the January 16, 2027 election.
The delegation also visited the palace of the Okere of Sakiland, Oba (Dr.) Surv. Khalid Oyeniyi Olabisi Oyedepo III, where it sought the monarch’s royal blessings and presented some of the developmental needs of the community for consideration by the Federal Government.
Speaking at the palace, Chief Fola Tinubu appreciated the traditional ruler for the warm reception accorded the delegation despite the short notice.
He said the group was committed to mobilising support and canvassing votes for President Tinubu’s re-election, adding that the President’s policies, projects and programmes needed to be communicated effectively to Nigerians at the grassroots.
According to him, the mobilisation exercise was designed to educate residents on what the group described as the achievements of the Tinubu administration and encourage them to support the President for a second term.
He disclosed that the group had compiled achievements of the President into a booklet being distributed across the country to document and publicise the administration’s programmes.
Tinubu said members of the group believed that Nigeria would make further progress if the President secured another term to complete his Renewed Hope Agenda.
He also assured the Okere that the Saki Development Projects Bank, containing the community’s priority development needs, would be presented to President Tinubu for consideration and possible upward review.
Also speaking, the member representing Saki West, Saki East and Atisbo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Kareem Tajudeen Abisodun, popularly known as Wéré, commended the leadership qualities of the Okere of Sakiland.
Wéré described members of the support group as volunteers who had chosen to mobilise support for the President because of what they considered the achievements and projects of his administration.
He said the decision to visit Saki, a prominent town in Yorubaland and the Oke-Ogun area, was aimed at taking the President’s message and programmes directly to the people.
The lawmaker also urged residents to support other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections, including its governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates.
He said the election presented an opportunity for the people to strengthen the party’s political fortunes and advance the development of the community.
In his remarks, the Okere of Sakiland, Oba Khalid Oyeniyi Olabisi welcomed the delegation and commended Chief Fola Tinubu for bringing the mobilisation campaign to Saki.
The monarch used the visit to draw the attention of the delegation to some of the community’s pressing developmental challenges, including inadequate access to potable water, epileptic electricity supply and the absence of essential Federal Government development projects.
He urged the group to convey the concerns and demands of the people to President Tinubu for appropriate intervention, noting that the challenges had continued to affect economic activities and community development.
The traditional ruler prayed for the success of the delegation’s mission and political aspirations and wished its members a safe journey.
Other dignitaries at the event included the APC Chairman in Saki West, Alhaji Tajudeen Okunlola, who led party members to receive the delegation; APC Senatorial Candidate for Oyo North Senatorial candidate, Mrs. Hannah Olawunmi Ogunesan ; APC House of Assembly candidate, Hon. Ibrahim Shittu ; Alhaji Elesin Adebayo Alaga; Alhaji Sarafadeen Omirinde; Alhaji Kareem Adebayo Olomi; Alh. Sabitu Olofa ,Hon. Niyi Adeagbo and many others.
The rally formed part of the group’s wider mobilisation efforts to secure grassroots support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid, with members expressing confidence in the APC’s prospects in the 2027 elections.
The group maintained that President Tinubu deserved a second term to complete the Renewed Hope Agenda, while urging residents to support the party’s candidates at all levels.
