No fewer than 12 candidates are listed as contenders for the Oyo North Senatorial District seat ahead of the 2027 general elections, signalling a potentially keen contest across the district.
The candidates, drawn from different political parties, include Hannah Olawumi Ogunesan of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Shina Abiola Peller of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Beulah Olufemi Ayodeji Adeoye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and candidates of other parties.

The emerging contest has already attracted political attention, with several familiar names featuring prominently in the race. Peller, a former member of the House of Representatives, declared his intention to contest the Oyo North senatorial seat in August 2026.
The Oyo North seat is currently represented by Senator Abdulfatai Buhari of the APC, who has represented the district since 2015.
