The Oyo State Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal, has called on residents of the state to support Governor Seyi Makinde’s political aspiration, expressing optimism that the governor would, by the grace of God, become Nigeria’s President in 2027.
Lawal stated this on Sunday during his inspection of security and education projects across Irepo Local Government Area as part of activities tagged, “A Day of Impact – A Journey of Development.”
The Deputy Governor, who spoke to residents and stakeholders during the engagement, linked the call to the developmental initiatives of the Makinde administration across the state.
He urged the people to sustain their support for the governor, expressing confidence in Makinde’s political trajectory beyond the 2027 governorship election.
Lawal said, “By God’s grace, Governor Seyi Makinde will become the President of Nigeria in 2027,” while calling on the people to support the governor.
The political declaration came against the backdrop of the Deputy Governor’s inspection of security and educational facilities in Irepo, including the Amotekun office at Kishi, the security outpost at Sabon Geri Madina and the newly established Migrant Farmer Basic School in the Kraal Market area.
At Sabon Geri Madina, Lawal inspected the Amotekun facility established to strengthen security operations and facilitate quicker response to security concerns within the community.
The Chairman of Irepo Local Government, Tunde Taoheed Olayiwola, who received the delegation, said the security outpost would enable personnel to operate more efficiently without having to travel into Kishi town whenever operational issues arose.
Olayiwola also raised concerns over alleged criminal activities around the Adagbangba axis, disclosing that the council had informed the Commissioner of Police of its plan to establish a police post in the area.
He said an unused council facility at Sooro, Kishi, had been renovated for joint use by security personnel, while work was ongoing on a police office beside OYSADEM.
The chairman said the facility would soon be commissioned.
At the Migrant Farmer Basic School, Lawal expressed concern over the use of a tent as a temporary learning facility and urged the community to provide suitable land for the proposed establishment of a secondary school.
He assured the community that the state government would commence the necessary process upon the submission of a formal request, adding that the proposed school would have laboratories and other essential facilities.
The Deputy Governor urged the community to expedite the submission of the request, saying the process could begin before the end of the week if the necessary documentation was provided.
Also present at the engagement was the APM candidate for Irepo/Oorelope/Olorunsogo Federal Constituency, Abiodun Oni.
Lawal was accompanied by his wife, Ajibike Lawal, the Commissioner for Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperatives, Abdul-Waheed Adelabu, Olayiwola, council officials, supervisory councillors, special advisers and other stakeholders.
The delegation also paid a condolence visit to the Kraal community following the death of one of its members, which led to the relocation of the programme initially scheduled to hold at the Kishi Kraal Market.
