The Oyo State Deputy Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Adesoji Adedeji, has wooed youths across the state, urging them to take an active role in the party’s grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Adedeji also promised that an APC administration, if elected, would prioritise workers’ welfare, education, youth development, investment and the strengthening of the local government system.
He spoke on Wednesday during separate engagements with APC members and supporters in Saki and Ogbomoso.
The events, held at the Saki City Hall and Soun Ogunlola Town Hall, Ogbomoso, were organised under the theme, “Building APC Youths for Electoral Success in Oyo State.”
The gatherings attracted APC youths, party leaders and other stakeholders, who received Adedeji and his entourage with solidarity songs.
Addressing the gatherings, Adedeji thanked party leaders and members for their support and urged youths to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the election.
He said the party needed to strengthen its presence across the state, stressing that Ogbomoso, Oyo, Ibarapa and Oke-Ogun were important components of the state.
Adedeji called for unity among APC members, likening the strength of the party to a forest.
He said, “A single tree cannot make a forest,” urging members across the various zones to work together towards the party’s success.
On the proposed policies of the APC governorship ticket, Adedeji said workers’ welfare would receive priority attention, including the payment of salaries, allowances, gratuities and pensions.
He also identified education and youth development as key areas, saying investment in human capital would contribute to the overall development of the state.
The deputy governorship candidate further promised that an APC administration would intensify efforts to attract investors to Oyo State, with the aim of expanding economic activities and creating employment opportunities.
Adedeji also advocated a functional local government system as part of the proposed administration’s development agenda.
During his visit to Saki, the APC deputy governorship candidate paid a courtesy visit to the Okere of Saki, Oba Khalid Oyeniyi Olabisi Oyedepo III.
At the Ogbomoso event, the APC candidate for Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire Federal Constituency, Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, commended party leaders and youths for their commitment.
Alao-Akala urged members to remain united and sustain their mobilisation ahead of the election.
The APC Youth Leader, Remi Adepoju, assured the gathering that the youth wing would intensify its mobilisation activities, while appealing to party leaders to continue supporting young members.
Other speakers expressed support for the Alli-Adedeji ticket and called for increased mobilisation across communities in the state.
The programme also featured a minute’s silence in honour of the late former Oyo State Governor, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, followed by special prayers.
Among those present were Hon. Tajudeen Abisodun Kareem ,Hon. Waliu Aweda Salami, Hon. Shittu Ibrahim, Hon. Lukman Ishola, Hon. Odedunmi Bunmi Olubukunmi, Glory Olalekan, Sayo Ifatoki, Wasiu Olukan and Ajagbe Ibrahim, alongside other APC leaders, women leaders and members of the City Boys Movement.
