The Senator representing Oyo North, Buhari Abdulfatai Ph.D, has called on youths in Oyo State to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term, urging them to disregard what he described as misinformation surrounding the President’s re-election ambitions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The appeal was made at the conclusion of a three-day capacity-building programme held in Ogbomoso for young people drawn from across the senatorial district. The training, which took place between April 15 and April 17, 2026, brought together 120 participants selected from all 13 local government areas in Oyo North.
Addressing attendees at the closing ceremony, Senator Buhari emphasized the importance of applying the skills acquired during the programme to achieve economic self-reliance. He noted that each participant received a grant of ₦100,000 to support business start-ups and encouraged prudent investment of the funds.
According to the lawmaker, the initiative aligns with broader youth empowerment efforts under the current administration. He commended President Tinubu for creating what he described as an enabling environment for such programmes, citing ongoing training and grant opportunities aimed at fostering entrepreneurship among young Nigerians.
He further urged beneficiaries to demonstrate appreciation by supporting the President’s second-term ambition, stating that “to whom much is given, much is expected.”
Senator Buhari also announced plans for another round of capacity-building, scheduled to take place in Igboho, Oorelope Local Government Area, in the coming week. The upcoming programme, he said, will similarly benefit 120 youths from across the district and forms part of a series of empowerment initiatives rolled out in April 2026.
