8 Saki West APM Leaders Set to Decide Chairmanship Candidate as Makinde Mandates Consensus

The race for the Alliance Peoples Movement (APM) chairmanship ticket in Saki West LG entered a decisive stage on Saturday as eight party leaders commenced consultations to select the party’s flagbearer ahead of the forthcoming local government election.

The development followed a directive by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, mandating the party leaders to return home and produce a consensus candidate from among the leading aspirants.

The frontline aspirants in the contest are Hon. Gbenga Akinola, Hassan Ajibade (Esq.), Lateef Sarafadeen Abiola (Esq.), Hon. Oluwakemi Waheed, Hon. Muda Busari and Hon. Waheed Omoyemi.

The eight party leaders saddled with the responsibility of recommending the party’s candidate are Engr. Hammed Gbadamosi, Alhaji Lati Komi, Baba Alaraje,Alhaji Rafiu Adekunle, Hon. Niyi Adebisi, Hon. Femi Julius, Alhaji Adeshina Moshood and Idris Aloma.

The committee is expected to evaluate the aspirants and present the candidate considered best suited to fly the party’s flag in the local government election.

The eventual nominee is expected to emerge before the end of the day and will become the PDP’s standard-bearer for the Saki West Local Government chairmanship poll.

As of the time of filing this report, the party had yet to announce its consensus candidate, while consultations among stakeholders were still ongoing.
