Barr. Akeem Adedeji Agbaje, frontline ASPIRANT for the 2027 Oyo State governorship election, on the platform of All Progressives Congress Party, has eulogised the contributions of workers across Oyo State and Nigeria at large on this year’s Workers’ Day, describing them as the unseen engine that keeps the machinery of national advancement in measured, purposeful motion.
In a statement, Barr Agbaje acknowledged the immeasurable contributions of Nigerian workers; on the farmlands, classrooms and courtrooms, in hospitals and highways, in government offices and private enterprises, in the parks and garages, and so on; whose steadfast industry and enduring commitment continue to propel Nigeria’s march towards development, often without the recognition they truly deserve.
”Today, we pause to honour the men and women whose daily sacrifices form the invisible foundation upon which every Nigerian dream is built. The teacher who rises before dawn, the nurse who works through the night, the civil servant who keeps government running despite enormous personal pressures, these are the real heroes of Nigeria’s story, and today belongs entirely to them.”
Noting the extraordinary resilience Nigerian workers have demonstrated in the face of economic headwinds and inflationary pressures, the legal luminary described their continued commitment to duty as nothing short of a patriotic act.
”There is a quiet heroism in showing up every day, in doing your job with diligence when the environment is not always encouraging and when the reward does not always match the effort. It is on the platform of their sacrifices that whatever progress this nation has made has been achieved.”
The APC chieftain and former Chairman of the Ibadan branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) urged employees across both public and private sectors to remain resolute in their pursuit of excellence, stressing that the collective discipline of the workforce is central to realising Nigeria’s aspirations for sustainable growth.
”I call on every Nigerian worker, whether you wear a tie or a hard hat, whether you sit behind a desk or stand behind a counter, to recommit yourself to the values of excellence, integrity, and diligence. The future of this nation is built, brick by brick, by the daily decisions of millions of hardworking Nigerians who choose to give their best even when circumstances tempt them to give less.”
Barr Agbaje also used the occasion to commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his administration’s recent efforts to improve the welfare of Nigerian workers, specifically praising the President’s implementation of salary increases and welfare-driven policies designed to cushion the economic pressures faced by workers nationwide.
Describing the Renewed Hope Agenda as a national call to action, Agbaje urged workers across Oyo State and Nigeria to plug into the President’s reform programme with higher productivity, stronger professional ethics, and a renewed commitment to best practices.
The 2027 Oyo gubernatorial aspirant concluded with a personal pledge to the workers of Oyo State, promising that their welfare would be a cornerstone of his administration if given the mandate to govern.
