An aspirant for the House of Representatives seat in Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency, Masolanu Adeolu, has formally declared his intention to contest under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressing confidence in securing both the party’s ticket and eventual victory at the polls.
Adeolu disclosed that he recently traveled to Abuja to obtain and complete his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, marking a significant step in his bid to represent the constituency at the Green Chamber.
Speaking on his preparation for the race, the aspirant said his ambition is rooted in long-standing commitment to leadership and grassroots development, noting that his campaign would be driven by what he described as “selfless leadership.”
“The past few weeks have been demanding, but we have remained focused. We did not arrive here by accident; we have always prepared for leadership and service to our people,” he said.
Despite what he described as a tight political schedule, Adeolu emphasized that he and his team have continued consultations with key stakeholders across both Ido and Ibarapa East local government areas. According to him, meetings have been held with apex leaders, local government executives, ward chairmen, and other influential figures within the constituency.
He maintained that his connection to the grassroots gives him a strategic advantage in the contest, citing his previous political engagement in Ibarapa East and long-term residency ties in Ido.
Adeolu recalled his participation in the 2021 local government chairmanship race in Ibarapa East, where he claimed he had strong support before the process was disrupted by violence. He also highlighted his longstanding presence in Ido, where he has lived and invested for nearly two decades.
Addressing concerns about his party loyalty, the aspirant dismissed speculations questioning his involvement in the APC, insisting that he played an active role during the 2023 general elections. He referenced the current representative of the constituency, Aderemi Oseni, as a witness to his contributions.
Looking ahead, Adeolu said the next phase of the process would involve screening by party officials in Abuja, followed by the constitution of his campaign team ahead of the party primaries.
“We are doing this for the people and to make a clear statement that purposeful leadership is possible. Where there is the will, there is always a way,” he added.
He also expressed appreciation to his supporters and pledged not to disappoint them if given the opportunity to serve.
