The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday commenced the screening of aspirants seeking to contest elective positions on the platform of the party ahead of forthcoming elections, with exercises scheduled for the Senate, House of Representatives, and Oyo State House of Assembly aspirants.
According to a statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of the APC in Oyo State, Olawale Sadare, the screening for Senate aspirants is scheduled to hold at the Sheraton Hotel, Abuja, beginning from 2:00 p.m.
The party also disclosed that the screening exercise for aspirants seeking tickets into the House of Representatives would take place simultaneously at Treasure Suites, opposite the Federal High Court, 66 First Avenue, Central Business District (CBD), Abuja, also by 2:00 p.m.
In the statement, the party further revealed that members of the screening committee for aspirants contesting seats in the Oyo State House of Assembly are expected to arrive in Ibadan on Saturday, while details of their activities and timetable would be communicated subsequently.
The screening exercise forms part of the APC’s internal processes aimed at assessing the eligibility, competence, and preparedness of aspirants seeking to fly the party’s flag in future elections.
Party stakeholders and aspirants have continued to monitor developments closely as political activities intensify within the APC across Oyo State and the country at large.
The statement read in part: “Members of the Screening Committee are expected to arrive in Ibadan tomorrow (Saturday) and details of their schedule of activities will be made available very soon.”
