An independent investigation has raised fresh questions within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State over claims circulating in some quarters alleging that a former governorship aspirant, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, participated in the party’s governorship primary despite reportedly withdrawing from the race, 𝗜𝗧𝗩 𝗢𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 can Authoritatively report.
Findings indicate that the party stalwart, who had previously expressed interest in the governorship ticket ahead of the last election cycle, stepped down before the screening exercise and did not take part in either the screening or the primary election.
Individuals familiar with the development said his withdrawal effectively ended any involvement in the selection process conducted by the party.
Concerns have, however, emerged over attempts to associate his name with the exercise despite his earlier exit from the contest.
It was noted that it would be unlikely for a candidate who withdrew before the screening stage and did not participate in the process to be linked to the primary election.
Although the origin of the claims could not be independently verified, party insiders maintained that the chieftain had no involvement in the exercise following his withdrawal.
Efforts to obtain an official reaction from the Oyo State APC chapter were not successful at the time of filing this report.
