Fear and relief swept through Irawo Owode
community in Atisbo Local Government Area of Oyo State as a popular businessman, Alhaji Wasiu Alesinloye, finally regained freedom after spending five harrowing days in the den of kidnappers.

Alesinloye was reportedly abducted on Monday night when heavily armed gunmen invaded his residence and forcefully whisked him away to an unknown destination, throwing the community into panic.

Sources familiar with the incident disclosed that the kidnappers opened negotiations with the family shortly after the abduction, demanding a huge ransom before his eventual release.

Residents revealed that frantic efforts were made to secure the businessman’s freedom, with family members and associates allegedly selling valuables and raising contributions from friends to meet the demands of the abductors.

“It was a difficult period for the family. Some properties were sold, while friends and associates rallied round to raise the money needed for his release,” a community source disclosed.

Though details of the ransom paid could not be independently verified, sources confirmed that the businessman was released after five days in captivity.

His return has since sparked relief among residents and business associates, although concerns remain over the growing spate of insecurity in parts of Oyo State.

As of press time, security agencies had yet to release an official statement on the incident, while information about Alesinloye’s medical condition remained sketchy.
