Aspirant for the House of Representatives seat in Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency, Deolu Masolanu, has pledged to prioritise the welfare of party leaders and grassroots members if given the opportunity to serve.
Masolanu made the commitment after returning from Abuja, where he submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms ahead of the party’s screening exercise.
Speaking during consultations with party stakeholders and members across the constituency, the aspirant said the postponement of the screening exercise provided him the opportunity to engage more closely with party structures at the grassroots level.
According to him, the interactions exposed critical issues affecting party administration and member welfare, which he said his team had already begun addressing.
Masolanu explained that while he had earlier concentrated on consultations with top party leaders, he considered it necessary to also meet directly with ward executives, local government officials, youths, women and other party faithful within the constituency.
“I wanted to see and feel, first hand, the situation of things at party levels down to the grassroots,” he said.
He commended party leaders, executives and loyal members for sustaining the structure of the party despite challenges, describing them as the “engine” behind the party’s continued relevance.
The aspirant stressed the importance of recognising the contributions of apex leaders, noting that their experience and guidance remained essential for political growth and development.
Masolanu disclosed that, if elected, his administration would establish an advisory committee in consultation with party leaders to strengthen engagement and improve communication within the party structure.
He also proposed a monthly forum involving local government executives and ward chairmen to discuss the immediate needs and priorities of the constituency.
According to him, the welfare of party members must extend beyond ceremonial gestures, adding that meaningful support systems would be developed for leaders and members at all levels.
“The welfare of party leaders, executives and members will go beyond the distribution of Ankara fabrics. Their comfort must matter,” he stated.
Masolanu further promised to renovate and upgrade party secretariats in Ido and Eruwa to reflect the status of the party and provide a better working environment for officials.
He expressed appreciation to party leaders, officials and supporters for their support and advice, saying their contributions had helped shape his plans for the constituency.
The aspirant added that preparations were underway for the inauguration of ward coordinators immediately after the screening exercise.
