In the often turbulent landscape of Nigerian politics, where public visibility and political rhetoric frequently dominate the discourse, Prince Niran Adeyoju, popularly known as SDM, has carved a reputation for a quieter style of political engagement centred on dialogue, loyalty and grassroots mobilisation.
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State and Convener of the Oyo APC Peace Advocates, Adeyoju has remained active in the state’s progressive political movement for more than three decades.
His political journey, according to associates, dates back to the era of the late Chief Bola Ige, whose political philosophy of progressive governance and grassroots mobilisation influenced a generation of politicians in the old Western Region.
Adeyoju’s supporters describe that period as formative in shaping his political outlook, particularly his emphasis on party loyalty, internal cohesion and service to the people.
As the APC prepares for the 2027 general elections, Adeyoju has increasingly focused on efforts to promote reconciliation among members and stakeholders within the party.
Through the Oyo APC Peace Advocates platform, he has reportedly engaged party members across various local government areas, advocating dialogue and urging aggrieved members to resolve differences in the interest of the party.
His approach is anchored on the belief that internal cohesion remains essential to the APC’s prospects in the 2027 elections.
Adeyoju has also publicly aligned himself with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope agenda, having participated in mobilisation activities associated with the movement in Oyo State.
Within the state APC, he is also regarded as a supporter of Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, alongside other party leaders and stakeholders.
Beyond partisan politics, Adeyoju’s supporters point to his philanthropic activities as another dimension of his public engagement. These, they say, include assistance to students, support for medical needs, empowerment initiatives for youths and widows, as well as contributions to religious and community projects.
Unlike conventional political interventions often accompanied by extensive publicity, his associates claim that some of these activities are carried out with limited media attention.
With the 2027 elections approaching, the question of unity within Oyo APC is expected to remain central to the party’s strategy.
For Adeyoju, the emphasis is on building bridges among competing interests and ensuring that disagreements do not undermine the party’s broader objectives.
His political journey—from the progressive tradition associated with Bola Ige to his support for Tinubu and his current activities within the Oyo APC—has positioned him as one of the party’s advocates of internal dialogue and cohesion.
Whether his peace-building efforts will translate into stronger electoral fortunes for the APC in 2027 remains a matter for time. What is clear, however, is that Adeyoju continues to advocate a politics in which loyalty, reconciliation and service occupy a central place.
