Yesterday, dignitaries from various sectors gathered to witness the commissioning of several landmark projects in Iwajowa LGA.
The event, which was attended by notable figures from all walks of life including the Commissioner for Local Government & Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Ademola Ojo, former Commissioner for Budget & Economic Planning, Hon.(Barr.) Adeniyi Farinto, Chairman, Community and Social Development Agency(CSDA), Oyo State, Hon. Abideen Adeaga and other government /political functionaries, marked a significant milestone in the council’s infrastructural development within six months
The projects, which include a block of three classrooms with an office at Community Grammar School, Igannna (CSDA project), Flag-Off of Governor Seyi Makinde’s Restoration Estate, Iganna, motorised borehole at Olorunda Market, Elekokan, Amotekun office and presentation of two brand new motorcycles for the security outfit at Iwere-Ile, motorised borehole facilitated by Hon. Muritala Oyewumi’s led administration at Olopele village, Idiko-Ago(CSDA project), motorised borehole at Samo, Ijio, distribution of agricultural inputs to farmers and distribution of set of bricklaying tools to bricklayers respectively,are expected to greatly improve the lives of residents and stimulate economic growth in the area.
In his keynote address,Muritala revealed that, his administration has equally achieved the under-listed feats within six month and which are backfilling of box culvert along Ofeegun-Elekokan, Iganna, dredging of Agbua River along Ofeegun village, Iganna, full sponsorship of two indigenes of Iwajowa Local Government to undergo 3 years Diploma programme in Environmental Health Technology and Community Health Extension Workers(CHEW) at Alolade Oyinlola College of Health Sciences and Information Technology, Okuku Dam Road, Osun State for year 2024/2025 academic session, full sponsorship of six indigenes of Iwajowa Local Government to undergo various degree programmes at Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, Ibadan for 2024/2025 academic session.
Also,purchase of three laptop computers and a printer for ease of adminstrative activities in the local government, acquisition of 27.38 hectares(67.66 acres) of land at Elekokan road, Iganna from Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development, Oyo State for Estate Development, regular payment of salaries and allowances of both the established staff and ad-hoc workers as well as payment of leave bonus on monthly basis, regular holding of monthly security meeting to achieve peace and harmony in the council area, empowerment of the aged/widows and acquisition of suitable arable farmland for local government farm at Iganna respectively.
He further emphasized the importance of investing in infrastructure, stating that “these projects will not only enhance the quality of life for our citizens but also create jobs and opportunities for businesses to thrive.”
Muritala said, his activities in all the above aspects have touched lives and helped bring governance closer to the people, and in the process connect the dots of growth and development between the towns and rural communities.
He apppreciated Governor Seyi Makinde, Hon(Barr.) Adeniyi Farinto, Hon. Hakeem Adedibu(Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters for Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola Federal Constituency, PDP stakeholders, Royal Fathers, Security Operatives and others whose supports keep orchestrating his attainment of more achievements.
In their separate remarks, Hon. Ademola Ojo pledged Governor Seyi Makinde’s continued support for the local government and well-being of the traditional rulers.
He equally promised to see to instant facelift of the local government secretariat as requested by Hon.(Barr) Adeniyi Farinto, so as to make it more aesthetic, attractive and decent in its outlook.
Commissioner commended Muritala for what he was able to achieve within six months of his assumption of office, tasked to make the attained feats, tips of iceberg compared to what will be achieved in the subsequent time.
Hon. Adeniyi Farinto enjoined people of Iwajowa Local Government to continue supporting Governor Seyi Makinde in his struggle and readiness to make Oyo State attains greater heights.
He however conferred the Chieftaincy Title of ‘ Fiwagboye 1 of Iwajowa Local Government on the council chairman, having affirmed his humility, loyalty and readiness to serve.
