The Okere of Sakiland, Oba Dr. Khalid Oyeniyi Olabisi Oyedepo III, has assured residents of Saki and its environs that ongoing efforts to improve electricity supply and road infrastructure in the area will soon yield positive results.
The monarch gave the assurance on Wednesday while hosting Muslim groups across Saki at his palace to commemorate Hijrah 1448AH, the beginning of the Islamic New Year.
Addressing Islamic leaders, traditional chiefs and community members, Oba Oyedepo said the persistent power supply challenges in Saki would become a thing of the past before the end of the year, in line with commitments made by the Ministry of Power. He also pledged to personally attend the commissioning of the power project upon completion.
The royal father further disclosed that the long-awaited road construction from Iseyin to Saki and onward to Ilesa-Baruba would commence soon, stressing that the project would be executed to the highest standards. He added that work on the Okerete International Border Market road network was progressing and would be accelerated through collective efforts and stakeholder cooperation.
According to him, the completion of the power and road projects would stimulate economic growth, enhance commercial activities and create new opportunities for residents across the region.
He also called on residents to support government policies and adhere to community regulations, particularly those relating to security and public order. He urged commercial motorcycle operators and other stakeholders to comply with directives of the Oyo State Government under Governor Seyi Makinde.
While congratulating Muslims on the commencement of the new Islamic year, the monarch called for continued prayers for Nigeria, expressing concern over security challenges in parts of the country. He urged citizens to promote peace, religious tolerance and harmonious coexistence as essential ingredients for national development.
