The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Irepo/Oorelope/Olorunsogo Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election, Hon. Olatubosun Oladele, has assured constituents that he will leverage his experience and political network to attract more Federal Government establishments and developmental projects to the constituency if elected.
Oladele gave the assurance on Saturday while fielding questions from journalists in Saki, saying his legislative agenda would prioritise infrastructure, youth and women empowerment, education, agriculture and security.
According to him, creating employment opportunities through the establishment of federal institutions and agencies in the constituency would form a major component of his representation at the National Assembly.
The former member of the House of Representatives said his previous tenure provided a solid foundation for impactful representation, listing several interventions he facilitated during his time in office. These, he said, included employment opportunities into the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army, construction of boreholes, vocational and skills acquisition programmes, empowerment packages for farmers, distribution of power generating sets, grinding machines and agricultural sprayers, farmers’ training programmes, extra-mural coaching classes for students, sporting activities, free distribution of JAMB preparatory materials and road projects.
“If given another opportunity by the people, I will build on these achievements and deliver even more. My focus will be on expanding infrastructure, attracting more federal presence and ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach every community within the constituency,” he said.
Oladele also pledged to remain accessible to his constituents throughout his tenure, stressing that effective representation goes beyond sponsoring motions and bills but also requires constant engagement with the people.
Speaking on his political pedigree, the APC standard-bearer described himself as a loyal party man, noting that he had never defected from the progressive fold despite political realignments over the years.
“I have remained committed to the progressive ideology from the beginning. My loyalty to the APC and its ideals has remained unwavering, and I believe that consistency and dedication earned me the confidence of the party to fly its flag once again,” he stated.
The APC candidate also commended those who succeeded him in representing the constituency, saying every administration contributes to development and that ,he would consolidate on existing achievements if elected.
Responding to allegations by some constituents that he became less visible after leaving the House of Representatives, Oladele dismissed the claims as unfounded, insisting that he never severed ties with the people.
“I have always remained with my people. I am home-grown and have continued to identify with the constituency even after leaving office. The claim that I abandoned my constituents is simply not true,” he said.
On criticisms that his renewed visibility was motivated by his fresh political ambition, the former federal lawmaker argued that his record in public office speaks for itself. He cited his service in various capacities, including as a commissioner in Oyo State, and challenged his critics to present comparable achievements.
Without mentioning any individual, Oladele also drew a contrast between his style of politics and that of his opponent, saying he had always maintained close contact with the people without moving around with heavy security details.
He reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive representation, promising that if elected in 2027, he would pursue people-oriented policies and projects capable of accelerating socio-economic development across Irepo, Oorelope and Olorunsogo Federal Constituency.
