Won’t Allow Religion to Influence My Governance -Adekanmbi
The Oyo State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Ayobami Ojo, the Chairman of ATISBO LGA, Bashir Olumuyiwa Alade, and other stakeholders on Thursday hosted the governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, Bimbo Adekanmbi, in Tede, the headquarters of the council.
The visit was part of Adekanmbi’s grassroots engagement across Oke-Ogun ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
During the visit, the APM candidate held separate meetings with imams and leaders of the Muslim community, traditional worshippers and members of the Christian Association of Nigeria in ATISBO LGA.
He also interacted with the stakeholders, as he sought to hear directly from stakeholders on issues affecting the area.
The stakeholders, in their separate remarks, raised concerns bordering on infrastructure, development, welfare and other issues they said required government attention.
Responding, Adekanmbi said he would consider the requests presented to him, assuring the stakeholders that their concerns would receive attention.
He described himself as a grassroots politician, saying his business relationship with communities in Oke-Ogun had given him an understanding of the peculiarities and needs of the area.
Adekanmbi said, “I understand the dynamics of Oke-Ogun and the individual needs of our communities. This engagement gives me the opportunity to listen directly to the people and understand their expectations.”
The APM candidate also highlighted some of the achievements of the present administration, including road projects and the payment of salaries and gratuities.
He pledged that, if elected governor, his administration would promote fairness and inclusiveness, irrespective of religious affiliation.
“I will not be biased on the basis of religion. Everyone will have a sense of belonging in government,” he said.
Adekanmbi urged the people of ATISBO to support his candidacy ahead of the 2027 election, stressing that their concerns would form part of his considerations for governance.
The engagement also featured a courtesy visit to traditional authorities, where the candidate received royal blessings and advice on leadership and the expectations of the people.
Adekanmbi later met with party leaders and members, reiterating his commitment to grassroots participation and inclusive governance.
The APM candidate was accompanied by Elder Debo Adejumobi, Hon. Samuel Adejumobi, Alhaji Siju Lawal; Deputy Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Committee in Oyo North Senatorial District, Hon. Niyi Adebisi; APM House of Representatives hopeful for Saki West, Saki East and Atisbo Federal Constituency, Hon. Ridwan Gbadamosi, APM candidate for Saki East/ATISBO state Constituency, and Hon. Sola Ogundiya, among others.
