The Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that the Olubadan of Ibadanland is behind a “clandestine and unfortunate move” against Governor Seyi Makinde, while dismissing claims that the state government is plotting to remove the traditional ruler.
The party’s Publicity Secretary, Michael Ogunsina, made the allegation while featuring on a radio programme on Dominion Broadcast Group in Ibadan.
Ogunsina said reports suggesting that the Makinde administration was considering removing the Olubadan were false, stressing that the government holds traditional institutions in high regard and has no intention of undermining them.
He, however, claimed that there were covert actions allegedly being directed at the governor from the Olubadan’s camp, describing such moves as “unfortunate,” although he did not provide further details.
“There is no plan by the government to remove the Olubadan of Ibadanland,” he said during the programme. “But there are clandestine and unfortunate moves against Governor Seyi Makinde.”
