Saki Artisans struggle to survive as unstable power supply threatens livelihoods

The streets of Saki were filled with the sounds of discontent as residents staged a protest against the incessant power outages that have become a norm in their community. The protesters, fed up with the darkness, demanded an end to the era of epileptic power supply and called on the authorities to take immediate action.

The protest highlighted the plight of Saki residents, who have been struggling with frequent power outages for years. The situation has affected businesses, schools, and homes, causing untold hardship to the residents. The protesters’ message was clear: they will no longer tolerate the status quo and demand reliable electricity supply.

The protesters presented a list of demands, including a minimum of 7 hours of regular electricity supply daily, clear communication on power restoration timelines, and tangible action from the authorities to address the electricity challenges. The protesters are determined to get their demands met and are calling on the authorities to prioritize their needs.

The protest serves as a wake-up call for the authorities to take immediate action to address the electricity challenges in Saki. The residents are demanding a better future for themselves and their children, and they will no longer be silenced. The ball is now in the court of the authorities to respond to the protesters’ demands and provide relief to the suffering community.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Saki Parapo , home branch,expressed disappointment and frustration over the persistent electricity challenges in the community, urging the relevant authorities to be proactive in addressing the issue.

The youth leader of Saki, Olafimihan Mohammed, put foot down and sounded a note of warning to the distribution company, demanding that they ensure a stable power supply of at least 7 hours every day.

‘ The ultimatum is clear: provide reliable electricity, or face the wrath of the community”, he stated.

The president of the National Union of Saki Students (NUSS),Adebayo Qowiyu Taiwo, strongly condemned the incessant power outages plaguing the town, highlighting the devastating impact on students’ academic performance.

The Chairman of Saki Artisans, revealed the devastating impact of unstable power supply on their businesses, citing equipment damage, wasted materials, and lost revenue.
“The artisans are struggling to survive, and the situation demands urgent attention from the authorities”, he said .

The Agamu of Saki who spoke on behalf of Okere of Saki, Oba Khalid Olabisi Oyeniyi, said the relevant Ministries authorities would intervene in the ongoing power outage crisis, expressing disappointment over the situation , assuring the community that the authorities would address the issue. He calmed protesters and urged them to remain peaceful.
