The South West Zonal Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has celebrated the party’s victory in the recently concluded Ekiti State governorship election, expressing confidence that it would replicate the feat in the forthcoming Osun State governorship poll.
The position was contained in a communiqué issued after the committee’s monthly executive meeting held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, under the chairmanship of the Acting South West Zonal Chairman, Dr. Lateef Ibirogba.
The meeting was attended by the National Ex-Officio, Hon. Bunmi Oriniowo; Zonal Publicity Secretary, Pa Ayo Afolabi; Deputy National Auditor, Hon. Oluyemi Olugbenga; Zonal Legal Adviser, Barr. Kola Majaro; Zonal Secretary, Hon. Femi Aluko; and the South West Zonal Leader for Persons with Disabilities, Hon. Isola Oludayo.
The committee described the re-election of Ekiti State Governor, , as a historic mandate from the electorate.
Speaking during the meeting, Dr. Ibirogba commended the people of Ekiti State for what he described as their overwhelming support for the governor, saying the outcome represented “not just a landslide, but a moonslide victory never witnessed before in the state.”
He also applauded former governors of the state and other political stakeholders across party lines for rallying behind the governor to secure the victory.
Looking ahead to the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 21, the acting zonal chairman expressed optimism that the APC would emerge victorious, urging members to remain united, peaceful and committed to the party’s ideals.
According to him, the party has put in place strategies aimed at reclaiming Osun State from the opposition through sustained grassroots mobilisation and effective political engagement.
The committee reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening party cohesion and promoting good governance across the South West.
