Stakeholders Move to Halt Growing Security Threats in Oke-Ogun

Concerned leaders and stakeholders in Oke-Ogun, Oyo State, have commenced fresh consultations aimed at addressing the growing security challenges confronting communities across the region.

At a high-level consultative meeting held on Sunday at the instance of Ambassador Adejuwon, prominent community leaders expressed deep concern over the worsening security situation in Oke-Ogun and the urgent need for coordinated local action to complement government efforts.

Present at the meeting were Chief Akano, Ambassador Adejuwon, Pa Samson Ojoawo, and High Chief Bakoja of Saki, among other notable figures.

At the end of deliberations, the stakeholders resolved to convene an emergency security meeting involving heads of hunters across Oke-Ogun communities, including Balodes and Aremodes, alongside security experts, retired veterans, and patriotic elders.

The emergency gathering is scheduled to hold in Igboho on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

According to the communique issued after the meeting, participants will deliberate extensively on the deteriorating security situation in Oke-Ogun and formulate practical recommendations on measures citizens can adopt to support government agencies in safeguarding lives and property.

The stakeholders warned that the region was increasingly becoming vulnerable to criminal activities if urgent steps were not taken.

“There is no doubt that Oke-Ogun is fast becoming an ungoverned space under our watch. A stitch in time saves nine,” one of the participants stated.
