World Teachers’ Day: Okere Felicitates Workers, Urges Resilience, Dedication

The Okere of Sakiland, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Surv. Khalid Oyeniyi Olabisi Oyedepo III, has felicitated with workers, particularly teachers, on the occasion of the 2026 World Teachers’ Day, describing their contributions to human capital development and societal advancement as invaluable.

The paramount ruler, in a goodwill message issued by the Palace Media on Monday, commended workers across various sectors for their unwavering commitment, perseverance and sacrifices in the discharge of their responsibilities, despite the daunting challenges confronting the contemporary workplace.

He particularly acknowledged the pivotal role of teachers as custodians of knowledge, moulders of character and architects of the intellectual and moral foundation upon which every enduring society is built.

Kabiyesi Okere stressed that , the development of any society remained inextricably intertwined with the quality, dedication and welfare of its workforce, noting that workers must, therefore, approach their duties with renewed zeal, painstaking diligence and an abiding sense of responsibility.

The Okere urged teachers to remain steadfast in the pursuit of excellence, maintaining that their profession transcends the mere transmission of knowledge, as they are entrusted with the onerous responsibility of shaping the minds, character and aspirations of future generations.

He said, “On this occasion, I felicitate with our hardworking teachers and all workers whose daily sacrifices continue to sustain our communities and contribute to the development of our dear nation.

“Your resilience in the face of challenges, your painstaking commitment to duty and your dedication to the advancement of society are worthy of commendation.

“Teaching, in particular, is a noble calling. Beyond the classroom, teachers mould character, nurture talents, inspire ambition and prepare young people to assume the responsibilities of citizenship and leadership.”

The monarch called on governments and relevant stakeholders to continuously prioritise workers’ welfare, professional development and conducive working environments, stressing that a motivated workforce remained indispensable to sustainable development.

He also advocated greater recognition and appreciation of teachers and other workers whose contributions often go beyond what is immediately visible, urging society to celebrate not only their achievements but also the sacrifices and personal commitments behind them.

According to him, workers must equally reciprocate institutional support with professionalism, discipline, integrity and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

He urged teachers and other workers in Sakiland and beyond to remain hopeful and resolute, assuring them that their labour and sacrifices would continue to have a profound impact on present and future generations.

He prayed for greater strength, wisdom and fulfilment for all workers, while calling for a renewed collective commitment towards building a society where hard work, competence, integrity and service are duly recognised and rewarded.

The Okere, therefore, congratulated teachers on the 2026 World Teachers’ Day celebration, describing them as indispensable pillars of human development and nation-building.
