Alaran Beats Peller,3 others to Secure Reps Ticket With 9,620 Votes

Alhaji Saheed Adejare Yusuf Alaran has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) direct primary election for the Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency, defeating four other aspirants to secure the party’s House of Representatives ticket ahead of the 2027 general election.

Alaran polled a total of 9,620 votes in the keenly contested exercise conducted across the four local government areas that make up the constituency.

The result was officially announced at the constituency collation centre in Iseyin by the Constituency Returning Officer, Hon. Adeyinka Taiwo, represented by Hon. Shittu Kalid Adeshina.

According to the Returning Officer, the primary election was conducted across Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Kajola and Iwajowa Local Government Areas, with five aspirants participating in the exercise.

The breakdown of the results showed that Barrister Bolaji Ladigbolu scored 238 votes, Hon. (Mrs.) Ogunkunle Fatimo polled 184 votes, Hon. Olawale Ojeleye secured 759 votes, while Hon. Tosin Abiola Peller recorded 287 votes.

Alaran won convincingly across the local government areas, polling 2,603 votes in Iseyin, 2,928 votes in Itesiwaju, 1,547 votes in Kajola and 2,542 votes in Iwajowa to record a total of 9,620 votes out of the 11,088 votes cast in the primary election.

Following the announcement, Hon. Adeyinka Taiwo formally declared Alaran winner of the APC House of Representatives primary election for the constituency.

Speaking shortly after his victory, Alaran described the exercise as peaceful, transparent and credible, noting that the process reflected the wishes of party members.

He commended the APC for providing a level playing field for all aspirants to freely test their popularity before party faithful.

“Five of us participated in the exercise, and to the glory of God, the process was successful and transparent. At the end of the day, I was declared winner with overwhelming votes,” he said.

Alaran stressed that there was “no victor and no vanquished,” urging all aspirants and supporters to unite for the progress of the party ahead of the general election.

He assured constituents that he would not disappoint the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work for the development of the constituency if elected.

Earlier, APC leader in Iseyin Local Government, Pa Aderoju Egbedokun, said the party adopted the direct primary option in line with the wishes of the majority of aspirants.

He noted that there was no anointed candidate in the race and urged all contestants to work together in the interest of the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
