Markaz Old Students Hold 6th Public Lecture, Celebrate Hijrah 1448 in Oyo

The 6th Public Lecture and Hijrah 1448 celebration organised by Niqoobatul Markaziyyin (Markaz Old Students Association) was held on Saturday at the Federal School of Surveying, Oyo, bringing together Islamic scholars, alumni, students and dignitaries from across Oyo State.

Speaking as Chairman of the occasion, Senator Buhari Abdulfatai, the Aare Niqoobat-il-Markaz of Oyo State and Senator representing Oyo North Senatorial District, reflected on the remarkable growth of the annual programme since its inception in 2015.

According to him, the public lecture series began with its maiden edition in Ogbomoso before moving through Iseyin, Saki, Igboora and Ibadan, eventually reaching Oyo town for its sixth edition.

He described the steady expansion of the programme as a testament to the commitment of Markaz alumni to promoting Islamic scholarship, moral values and community development.

Addressing Markaz students and other participants, Senator Abdulfatai urged them to pay close attention to the lectures and discussions, stressing the importance of applying the lessons learned to their daily lives.

He noted that the essence of such gatherings extends beyond intellectual engagement, adding that the knowledge acquired should positively influence personal conduct, strengthen faith and contribute to societal development.

The lawmaker also expressed profound appreciation to all attendees for their support and participation in making the event a success.

He particularly commended the Mudeerul Markaz, Sheikh Habeeb, for his exemplary leadership and unwavering dedication to the growth and advancement of the institution.

“His commitment to the development of Markaz and the nurturing of future generations of scholars remains commendable and worthy of appreciation,” he said.

The event featured Islamic lectures, reflections on the significance of Hijrah 1448, prayers and discussions aimed at strengthening the spiritual and moral values of participants.
