The Oyo State Government,has entered into a public-private partnership with CTH Trading Stores Limited for the development of a 481.028-hectare Smart Agro-Cosmopolitan City in Saki, a project aimed at boosting agriculture, commerce and sustainable urban development in the Oke-Ogun region.
The company a press statement announced on Monday that, it had received a formal Letter of Engagement from the Oyo State New Towns and Cities Development Authority (OYSNTCDA), officially appointing it as the state’s preferred development partner for the Oke-Ogun Smart City project.
Located at the Old Veterinary site, off Oje-Owode Road, Saki, the development will occupy nearly 1,200 acres and is expected to integrate agriculture with modern technology-driven infrastructure to stimulate economic growth in the region.
According to the company, the project will be executed in phases and will feature a smart agro-logistics hub with wholesale trade facilities, temperature-controlled cold storage and automated supply chain infrastructure to strengthen regional and cross-border commerce.
Other components include off-grid solar-powered electricity, localized water systems, eco-friendly residential estates, technology-driven business districts and a digital land administration system linked to the Oyo State Government’s property registry to ensure secure and transparent land ownership.
Managing Director of CTH Trading Stores Limited, Mr. Covenant Abimbola, described the initiative as a strategic investment designed to transform the economic fortunes of Oke-Ogun.
“We are not just building houses; we are creating a sustainable economic engine for the region by combining green technology with Saki’s agricultural strength and commercial potential,” he said.
Abimbola commended Governor Seyi Makinde and the leadership of the OYSNTCDA for promoting public-private partnerships that encourage regional development and community empowerment.
He disclosed that environmental impact assessments, site mapping, zoning and preliminary site clearing have commenced, while stakeholder engagement meetings with host communities will be held in the coming weeks.
The company said the official groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026, after which construction of the first phase, covering about 180 hectares, will begin.
