Senator Buhari Abdulfatai, representing Oyo North Senatorial District, has announced plans to host the fifth edition of his Mega Empowerment Programme and Constituency Briefing, scheduled to hold on Thursday, April 30, 2026.
The event, branded as the BAF Renewed Hope Mega Empowerment Programme & Constituency Briefing, will take place at Soun Stadium, with proceedings expected to commence at 10:00 a.m.
According to the lawmaker, the programme is part of ongoing efforts to deliver tangible economic support to constituents while maintaining transparency in legislative representation. The initiative also aligns with the “Renewed Hope” agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The empowerment programme has become a recurring feature of Senator Abdulfatai’s constituency engagement strategy, focusing on poverty alleviation and economic stimulation across the Oyo North district. Previous editions have seen the distribution of items such as vehicles, grinding machines, power generators, and the award of educational grants to beneficiaries across the district.
The senator’s office stated that this year’s edition will continue in that tradition, targeting a wide range of constituents, including youths, artisans, and small-scale entrepreneurs.
In addition to the distribution of empowerment materials, the event will feature a constituency briefing session. The forum is designed to provide constituents with updates on the senator’s legislative activities, including bills, motions, and constituency projects executed across the district’s 13 local government areas.
Observers note that such briefings serve as a mechanism for strengthening democratic accountability by fostering direct interaction between elected officials and the electorate.
The programme is also expected to carry political significance, with its alignment to the Renewed Hope agenda of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The event is likely to attract party stakeholders, traditional rulers, and community leaders from within and beyond Oyo State.
Organisers have urged attendees to arrive early, noting that proceedings will begin promptly as scheduled.
