The Executive Chairman of ATISBO LGA of Oyo State, Alhaji Alade Bashir Olumuyiwa, has announced the enforcement of a 48-hour curfew directive issued by the Oyo State Government across communities surrounding the Old Oyo National Park.
In a circular addressed to media organisations and community stakeholders on Wednesday, the chairman said the measure was part of efforts by Governor Seyi Makinde to strengthen security and protect lives and property in affected areas.
According to the statement made available to this newspaper on Wednesday, movement of vehicles, motorcycles and residents will be restricted during the curfew period, which takes effect from June 24, 2026.
Olumuyiwa urged residents of Atisbo Local Government, including those in Ago-Are, Tede, Irawo, Sabe, Baasi, Owo, Ofiki, Agunrege and Corner Owo, to comply fully with the directive.
He said the order also applies to traditional rulers, members of traditional councils, transport operators, religious leaders, community development associations, market groups, artisans, private school proprietors and all other residents within the local government area.
The chairman stressed that traditional rulers have been mandated to ensure widespread awareness of the directive in their respective communities to guarantee effective compliance and support ongoing security operations.
He noted that the curfew forms part of broader measures by the state government to address security challenges in communities surrounding the Old Oyo National Park and restore public confidence.
Olumuyiwa called on residents to cooperate with security agencies and adhere strictly to the restrictions throughout the duration of the curfew.
