Following the universityโ€™s regulations, Professor Maikudi emerged as the best candidate among 10 shortlisted individuals interviewed by the Joint Council and Senate Selection Board. She is Nigeriaโ€™s youngest Professor of Law and the first female Professor of Law from Northwest Nigeria.

Born on 31st January 1983 in Katsina State, Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi is a distinguished scholar of International Law.

With an impressive academic background, including an LLB degree from the University of Reading, UK, and a PhD from the University of Abuja, Professor Maikudi is well-equipped for the position. She will also be the first female Vice-Chancellor in the universityโ€™s 38 years history.

Before her confirmation, Professor Maikudi served as the institutionโ€™s Acting Vice-Chancellor, first appointed on June 26, 2024.
