Security Top Agenda as Ago-Are Development Union Holds 9th AGM

The Isokan Ilu Ago-Are Development Union (IIADU) has reaffirmed its commitment to community development, unity and security as it held its 9th Annual General Meeting, bringing together sons and daughters of Ago-Are from within and outside Nigeria.

The event, held on April 6, 2025, attracted traditional rulers, community leaders, government associates and other stakeholders committed to the development of Ago-Are.

Proceedings began with the arrival of guests and dignitaries, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem, Oyo State Anthem and the Ago-Are Anthem. Opening prayers were offered by Alhaji Abdulwahab Alorede and Deacon Syndiran Solomon, symbolising the union’s commitment to religious harmony.

In his welcome address, the National Chairman of the union, Alhaji Isiaka Adeyemi Salawudeen, expressed appreciation to members of the organising committee, traditional rulers and all stakeholders for their support towards the success of the annual gathering.

He prayed that the union would, by God’s grace, host future editions of the Annual General Meeting at its proposed permanent site. Salawudeen also urged residents to remain security-conscious amid prevailing security challenges, while offering prayers for the safe return of persons still in captivity.

The chairman further charged members of the Ago-Are community, both at home and in the diaspora, to continue making meaningful contributions towards the growth and sustainable development of the town.

Traditional rulers at the event also underscored the importance of unity and collective responsibility in advancing the community’s development agenda.

Speaking during the programme, the Alagbere of Ago-Are, His Royal Highness, Oba Azeez Uthman Oyetunde Odunaye II, appreciated members of the union, government associates and fellow traditional ruler, the Oloto of Ago-Are, His Royal Highness, Oba Alhaji Azeez Oyedele Omofayeowa, for their continued support for the progress of the community.

The meeting also featured cultural performances by pupils of An-Najah Group of Schools, Ago-Are, whose presentation entertained guests and added colour to the occasion.
