A labour leader and National Coordinator of the All Workers Convergence (AWC), Comrade Andrew Emelieze, has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration, urging the President to abandon what he described as an imperial style of leadership and address the mounting challenges confronting Nigerians.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Emelieze said Nigerians are grappling with severe economic hardship, insecurity and worsening living conditions under the current administration.
According to him, persistent incidents of kidnapping, banditry and violent crimes have continued to make life difficult for citizens, while government policies have allegedly compounded their struggles.
The labour leader claimed that the administration has become a source of frustration for many Nigerians and urged the President to pay attention to public sentiment regarding his performance in office.
Emelieze further advised Tinubu to reflect on the legacy he would leave behind after his tenure, stressing that political power is temporary.
He argued that the President should not see himself as indispensable, noting that he occupies Aso Rock as a temporary steward rather than a permanent holder of power.
He accused the administration of failing to meet public expectations and called for urgent policy adjustments to address the country’s economic and security challenges.
“Mr President, your stay in Aso Rock is temporary. No leader remains in power forever. One day, you will leave office, and history will judge your actions and decisions. It is important to reflect on what Nigerians will remember about your administration,” he said.
Emelieze maintained that there is still an opportunity for the government to make amends and improve the welfare of citizens, urging the President to adopt policies that prioritise the interests of ordinary Nigerians.
“Stop behaving like an emperor. You are not the landlord of Aso Rock; you are only a tenant entrusted with the responsibility of serving the Nigerian people,” he stated.
