ARSPON Partners Right Aid Foundation on Free Medical and Surgical Missions

Members of the Association of Rural Surgical Practitioners of Nigeria (ARSPON), Oyo State chapter, joined the Right Aid Health Foundation in providing free medical and surgical services to vulnerable residents, as more than 3,000 people have benefited from the foundation’s community healthcare interventions over the past decade.

The intervention was organised to mark the foundation’s 10th anniversary and featured a month-long medical and surgical outreach from August 1 to 31, 2026, at One Life Hospital, Oshodi/Isolo LGA of Lagos.

Conducted in collaboration with Onelife Hospital and Africa Vision Tract House Society (AVTHS), the programme offered consultations, ophthalmic and optometric services, laboratory investigations, diagnostic procedures and pharmaceutical care.

Beneficiaries also received screening for breast, cervical and prostate diseases, as well as health education, counselling and psychosocial support.

The surgical intervention covered conditions including cataracts, pterygium, uterine fibroids, goitre, hernias, appendicitis, lipoma, breast masses and malignancies, and benign prostatic enlargement.

Speaking on the initiative, ARSPON Oyo State Chairman, Dr G.S. Ogunsina, said the medical mission was focused on improving the wellbeing of vulnerable people at the grassroots.

Ogunsina appealed for greater support from individuals, organisations and well-to-do members of society to enable the foundation and its partners expand similar interventions beyond Lagos.

Other members of the association at the outreach include Dr. Gafar Amoo, Dr Olanipekun Azeez, Dr Shittu Adeyemi, Dr Ajewole Ibukun, Dr Ogundare Mufutau, Dr Adetunji, Dr Olujimi Philip, Dr Raji, Dr Salawudeen Taofeek, Dr Sheriff and Dr Sanusi among others.
