As part of its charitable efforts to prevent untimely death and rescue the people who could not afford medical care ,a foundation named “Awodi-Oke foundation”, has provided free affordable health care for the less privileged in Ago-Are Community.
The beneficiaries had a one-on-one session with trained medical personnel.
The outreach ,which focuses on diagnosis and treatment of malaria ,high blood pressure ,free blood pressure test,urinary tract infections, ulcers and typhoid , impacted 133 lives ,including youths and the aged of all tribes .
The coordinator of the foundation, Mr. Lawal Lukman who spoke on behalf of the founder, said access to free and quality healthcare should be accessible to everyone.
He states that ,the motive behind the outreach was to contribute to the growth and development of the society through meaningful programs that will support and bring succor to the less privileged.
Speaking further, he reiterates that , the foundation has consistently touching lives of the vulnerable by providing supports and essential services in various fields over the years, explaining how the foundation aims at providing educational materials to students when they resume academic session.
The heath officer, Dr. Hammed Nasri expresses satisfaction over the turnout of the people,stating that ,” We observed that a lot of people are not going for medical checkups due the present economic hardship in the country, and I want to appeal to other foundations to provide opportunities like this to offer hopes and put smiles on the faces of the downtrodden in the society “.
He further stressed the need for Nigerians to run checkups periodically to know their health status and maintain good health, charges other well- meaning individuals to partner with the foundation with a view to providing quality healthcare and humanitarian services in the area.
“We are here to carry out an extensive medical include medical checkups, blood test among others and also ensuring they have access to doctors.
“We are treating over 133 people. We believe that bringing medical healthcare to this number of people in the community will go along way, as we believe that early detection of some ailments and minor diseases would help in providing adequate medical care”, he said.
In their remarks, the beneficiaries urge government at all level to emulate the foundation’s gesture by providing free and affordable health care for people in the area.
In their words, “If an individual can do this, government can help us too. You know some untimely death were due to the fact that they can’t afford adequate healthcare. So government should come to the rescue of people leaving in the area.”
