Goodugoodu floors Oriyomi, others to win Accord Party ticket in Oyo

Busari Olakunle Moruf has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Accord Party for the 2027 general election in Oyo State, following a keenly contested primary election held over the weekend.

The exercise, which was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, was also attended by key party stakeholders, including Engr. Keshinro Olugbenga, Prince Adewale Adeyemo, and Mr. Olaide Mobolade.

Announcing the results, the Returning Officer of the State Collation Committee, Hon. Dairo Olayinka, declared that Busari polled 29,427 votes to secure the party’s ticket, defeating two other aspirants in the race.

According to the official tally, Oriyomi Hazmat scored 18,716 votes, while Fatai Owoseni garnered 11,922 votes.

Olayinka commended the local government returning officers for what he described as an orderly and effective collation process across the state, noting that the exercise reflected improved internal party coordination.

In his acceptance speech, Busari expressed gratitude to party members and delegates for their support, pledging to run an inclusive administration focused on development and citizen engagement if elected governor.

“I am ready to work with everybody. We will work together and brainstorm for the progress and development of Oyo State,” he said.

He further extended an olive branch to his opponents, urging unity within the party ahead of the 2027 polls, stressing that reconciliation would be key to electoral success.

Also speaking after the announcement, Busari said his administration would prioritize continuity in governance and consolidate on existing development efforts in the state.

“Where the present government stops, that is where we will begin,” he added.

Other officials present during the primary included Adebukola Ajaja, who supervised proceedings on behalf of the party leadership, alongside other accredited observers and stakeholders.
